I have had an opportunity to test JBL Bar 5.1 vs Bose Solo 5, and here are my thoughts. The JBL bar 5.1 transforms from a soundboard into a true wireless 5. 1 home theater system for an epic Movie and music–listening experience. The sound bar features two detachable battery–powered wireless surround speakers with 10–hours of playtime, 510W of total system power, a 10” wireless subwoofer, three HDMI inputs to connect 4K devices. With Dolby digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS, your movies, music and video games will never sound more incredible. 
Bose Solo 5 review
A small inexpensive soundbar with many functions - Bose Solo 5 very pleased me when comparing Bose Solo 5 vs JBL Bar 5.1 with the excellent sound quality in films and games, there is Bluetooth, a universal remote control and much more. The thing that impacted me the most is in the excellent combination of price and quality, and in the presence of a number of special functions that make use pleasant. But let's talk about everything in order. A rear USB port is required for software updates. Single soundbar provides better sound quality compared to your TV alone. It has dialogue mode to make every word and detail stand out. There are 2.0 built-in channels. To add, this playbar has the power output of 100W. It also features Bluetooth connectivity to wirelessly stream music from any of your devices, one cable for connecting to a TV and a universal remote control to control your TV.

Pros
- Not only does it sound great, but it's just so awesome to show off
- You'll only need the JBL remote when you want to configure the settings
Cons
- I got scared when reading about people claiming the mids were non-existent
Bose Solo 5 pros & cons
Pros
- The music and sound effects of a movie do not cover over voice dialog
- Convenient universal remote control that allows you to control other home appliances

- Not too suitable for music
