Samsung HW-Q70R vs Sonos Beam

Samsung-HW-Q70R-vs-Sonos-Beam

Samsung HW-Q70R review

The acoustic beam function is based on a tuned resonating tube that directs sounds to the side and up to the ceiling. There are also three forward speakers, i.e. dialogs are reproduced by the center own speaker. When all these speakers are combined with a subwoofer, you get a multi-channel object sound. The HW-Q70R supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X in all variants except IMAX Enhanced DTS:X. Comparing Samsung HW-Q70R vs Sonos Beam it can’t be missed that Samsung has 3.1.2 configuration. At the same time Sonos boasts 3.0. Samsung HW-Q70R

Sonos Beam review

Sonos calls Beam "the most advanced soundbar." The principle of operation of this unit is based on the direction of sound to the walls, with its subsequent reflection. The soundbar is equipped with two woofers for the center channel, one for the left and right stereo, and a tweeter. Also on the front of the Sonos Beam are two passive radiators and another on the back. Sonos Beam, for the first time for soundbars, combines HDMI and voice control. HDMI supports CEC technology. Samsung HW-Q70R pros & cons

Pros

  • Because of identical drivers, it’s easier to move the speakers around the three-dimensional soundstage without noticeably changing character from speaker to speaker
  • Touch sensitive buttons on the soundbar for volume level, inputs, and basically everything you need in a quick layout

Cons

  • The setup is simple, but there are so many features that I wish this system can guide you through upon “setting up”

Sonos Beam pros & cons

Pros

  • The late night setting (voice boost and lower loud noises) is very helpful
  • The native Apple Airplay streaming without the need for the Sonos app (it allows streaming collectively to the Play:1s also) is a great bonus also

Cons

  • The issue I have is codec support. Sonos has DD support and literally nothing else
