Compared Sonos Beam vs Yamaha YAS-108, Sonos Beam creates a richer sound. While watching movies, the voices of the heroes distinctly sounded from the LG E8 OLED TV, even though soundtracks were played and countless sounds of nature were heard. When listening to music, Sonos Beam also retains excellent clarity and a strong bass response, however, the speakers sound more cinematic than musically. Compared to the pair of speakers on the Sonos One stereo, Beam has a richer sound, probably due to mid-range drivers that add the illusion of deep bass. High and medium frequencies here seem somewhat deviated from the rest of the sound profile, they seem to float on top of the main melody. There are 3.0 built-in channels.

What’s concerning this side of Yamaha YAS-108 vs Sonos Beam rivalry? The Yamaha YAS-108 Soundbar provides one type of wireless connection for sound sources and three types of wired. By air, work is carried out using Bluetooth technology version 5.0 EDR with an A2DP profile and SBC codec. The range is declared standard - 10 m in direct line of sight. In practice, approximately this is the case in the absence of obstacles. Connectors for wired connections are concentrated on the back of the device. Beside them, white paint is marked accordingly. There are 2.0 built-in channels.

Pros
- The Sonos app walks you through the entire process and it took just a few minutes before it was connected and working
- A subwoofer isn't needed. Of course you can always add the wireless Sonos subwoofer if you really crave that earth-shaking bass
Cons
- You can't simply connect two Sonos One speakers to your HDTV
Yamaha YAS-108 pros & cons
Pros
- The bass is surprisingly powerful for it's size
- 3D Surround is probably something I'll keep on till this soundbar dies
- Bass extension takes it to another level
Cons
- DTS Virtual:X is supposed to simulate sound coming from the ceiling, but it doesn’t
