Onkyo TX-SR393 review

This unit boasts the power of 155 watts per channel (6 ohms). At the same time, Onkyo TX-SR393 is equipped with AccuEQ Room Calibration, an automatic calibration system for ambient sound, which was not previously seen in models of this cost. The device is equipped with HD surround decoders and high-quality modern DACs from Burr Brown. Onkyo TX-SR393 can be controlled using an informative front panel display or convenient on-screen graphics. Pros

  • The set up and calibration is easy and it has great connectivity including many streaming services
  • The Heos app is good enough for selecting various streaming sources and controlling basic functions like volume while the remote app allows more control of the receiver through you phone or tablet

Cons

  • There is an issue with this model with the firmware update

Pros

  • A particular tweak I really like is the Level Calibration, which allows you to adjust the volume of each speaker set
  • Another thing I like about this receiver is the unamplified line-level out port

Cons

  • When I called tech support I was told that "this is not a universal remote" and you couldn't program it
