To compare Sony STR-DN1080 vs Onkyo TX-NR626 let’s remember that both models have 7.2 channels. Their RMS is 120/6 and 160/6 W/Ohm. On the rear panel there are as many as 6 HDMI inputs for connecting devices and 2 HDMI outputs for outputting images to a TV, monitor or projector. Although each HDMI input is signed, according to the instructions it doesn’t matter which device will be connected to which connector, this is only a recommendation. But, there is one caveat. The SA-CD / CD and BD-DVD inputs provide higher sound quality. 
Onkyo TX-NR626 review
One of the six HDMI inputs on the rear panel serves as the MHL port for Android devices; high-resolution mobile interfaces are becoming increasingly popular. All HDMI connectors provide 3D video pass-through and content scaling up to 1080p; four out of six inputs support scaling and pass-through 4K Ultra HD - so when the content in this resolution finally becomes widely available, the owners of the TX-NR626 will be fully equipped. In addition, there are two HDMI outputs, one of them with a return audio channel, as well as many digital and analog connections, including a phono amplifier.

Pros
- Sony STR-DN1080 has all the features you can expect from a modern AV receiver
- The user interface is intuitive and complemented by a convenient remote control
Cons
- The sound is not as rich as the model of the previous year. It is better not to use the AV receiver with bright sounding acoustics
Onkyo TX-NR626 pros & cons
Pros
- Love the WiFi where I can use an app and cell phone for a remote. I can use Pandora off the internet and play my lists of music whenever I want
- The remote is fairly understandable and well laid out, not a thousand little buttons
Cons
- Lacks energy and scrupulousness
- IPod-free USB port and no Airplay
