I had the opportunity to test and make a Sony STR-DH790 vs Sony STR ND1080 comparison. This is two different models even in terms of connectivity. The ND1080 has a wider range of connectors versus the DH790. The DH790 cannot be categorized as a network receiver, but it has Bluetooth. Also, it needs to be mentioned in the Sony STR-DH790 vs STR DN1080 review that DN1080 has the Phantom Surround Back technology which supplements 5.1.2 mode with 2 virtual speakers. Both receivers work at the similar firmware. It works fast and allows a user to customize many settings.

Design & Usability

The design is classic, rigorous and concise. The front panel is divided into two parts, the top is glossy, with a small elongated display, the bottom is matte, there are controls. The difference Sony STR DN1080 vs Sony STR DH790 is the presence of the USB port at the bottom of the front panel of DN1080.
