The differences between these units are minimal. The output power is identical - 50W at 8 Ohms. The channel quantity is 5.2 for 1509 and 5.1 for 1504. For wireless switching, the Marantz NR1509 uses Wi-Fi (two bands), Bluetooth and AirPlay (AirPlay 2 protocol with multi-room audio support for Apple devices will be available after a software update). The receiver can be used as a network player and play files in Hi-Res format (including DSD 5.6 MHz), placed on servers and computers on the local network. The same formats are available when playing through the USB port built into the front of the case. The online services Spotify Connect, TuneIn, Tidal, Deezer, etc. are supported.

The rounded facade and large handles give the device an undeniable elegance (the left one allows you to switch inputs, the right one allows you to adjust the volume). Under the fluorescent display there are two rows of buttons - “matches”, separated by a company logo resembling a rose of winds. The height of the case barely exceeds 10 cm; access to the most important functions and modes is provided by buttons that form, together with the fluorescent display, a single display and control zone.
