Sonos Playbar vs Yamaha YSP-2700

Sonos Playbar review

Its output power is 200W. There are 3.0 built-in channels. Sonos is a soundbar with nine speakers. Specifically - six mid-frequency and three “tweeters” for high frequencies, two of which are directed on the sides to achieve the maximum surround sound effect. Each speaker is assigned its own Class D amplifier. All this is enclosed in a metal and plastic case with a minimalist design. Two inputs for Ethernet cable, one optical input. And that's it, except for the power port. It's simple: the soundbar is connected to the TV via an optical cable, and Ethernet inputs are needed either for connecting to the Internet, or for synchronization with Smart TV systems. Yamaha YSP-2700 review

The 7.1-channel unit delivers 107W of overall output power. YSP creates sound beams by activating the desired speaker projector speaker groups using a digital signal processing algorithm. CINEMA DSP programs are created by recording the data of real sound fields of famous concert halls, jazz clubs, sports grounds. As a result, a surprisingly voluminous and realistic atmosphere is transferred to your living room, ideal for listening to music and watching movies. The YSP-2700 system offers 10 different programs.

Sonos Playbar pros & cons

Pros

  • It sounds like true 5.1 system, but adding two more speakers can't hurt
  • I had no problem setting up the Playbar to the Alexa/echo system
  • Good sound quality in various usage scenarios

Cons

  • The Playbar only has optical audio in, so it gets complicated when you have more than one device that you want to use with this speaker

Yamaha YSP-2700 pros & cons

Pros

  • This soundbar (a sound projector rather) is a perfect compromise between sound quality, ergonomics, and style
  • The wireless sub does a good job of handling special effects and can bring some rumble

Cons

  • Obviously it isn't a component system with standalone speakers
