Features

The 7.1-channel unit delivers 107W of overall output power. The IntelliBeam Sound Calibration System automatically generates the optimum sound field. The user only needs to press the buttons, following the prompts on the screen. The system determines the nature of the acoustic environment (the shape and size of the room, the material of the walls), then sets the angles of reflection of sound rays, focal length, volume and other parameters. The YSP-2700 features Yamaha proprietary Digital Sound Projector technology with 16 speakers powered by 16 amplifiers delivering lifelike sound with remarkable presence, detail and clarity. Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio provide high-definition audio processing.

Design and build

The front of the YSP-2700 includes 16 high-quality 2.8-cm speakers that emit “beams of sound”. The layout of the array speakers is optimized in such a way that the reflective properties of the rays are enhanced to obtain the highest possible sound quality. The chassis of the front block is made of aluminum - a very hard non-magnetic material. The top panel is made of thick aluminum plate with a polished surface, which gives a special elegance to the design. The subwoofer has a simple, modest design, and will look good in any interior.

Connectivity

The YSP-2700 has three inputs and one HDMI output, and supports end-to-end transmission of ultra-high resolution video in 4K / 60p format. HDCP2.2 digital video copy protection technology is also supported. This expands the possibilities of using the system and is designed for the future.

Setup

The YSP-2700 user manual has a whole section that explains in great detail how to properly install the device in a variety of rooms, including those that are irregular in shape, as well as furniture that can have a significant impact on sound. It also speaks of “non-recommended” listening conditions.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • This sound bar (a sound projector rather) is a perfect compromise between sound quality, ergonomics, and style
  • The wireless sub does a good job of handling special effects and can bring some rumble

Cons

  • Obviously it isn't a component system with standalone speakers
