Read MoreTwo models from Marantz have different power. PM6006 has two times higher 40W compared to PM5005’s 20W at 8 Ohms. The preliminary and final stages of this unit are assembled on discrete elements, and there are no microcircuits on the signal path. The Marantz PM6006 circuit integrates HDAM SA2 and HDAM SA3 discrete amplifier modules. The changes affected the output section, which now provides higher peak currents. As a result, the sound became more accurate, detailed and dynamic. The large toroidal transformer of the power supply has a low impedance and is placed in a shielding casing.
The metal case of the Marantz PM5005 with a thick, curly aluminum front panel is equipped with anti-resonant supports. The device has a recognizable symmetrical design of the front panel, along the edges of which are the same handles of the input selector and volume control. Also here are knobs for adjusting the timbre of sound at low and high frequencies, as well as stereo balance. Among the other functionality of the amplifier, one can note the direct audio signal bypassing auxiliary circuits, the loudness circuit, the switch of two speaker pairs and the output for connecting headphones.
