Specs and features

Here we have 58W at 8 Ohms of output power. The input switch is implemented on electromagnetic relays, the volume control is a classic potentiometer with a motor drive. The new Brio received a completely updated wiring of power and signal conductors, a separate headphone amplifier and new operational amplifiers in linear circuits and a phono stage circuit. The circuit diagram of the amplifier has also undergone significant changes compared to the previous model. A completely new motherboard was developed for him. After preliminary amplification, the signal goes to the driver stage with a current output operating in class A, and then to Sanken composite transistors, for which the optimum temperature regime is ensured.

Design and build

The Rega Brio integrated amplifier has a completely new aluminum casing with two compartments: this design improved the heat sink, which was famous for the previous version of Brio, and also added strength and reliability to the casing. Inside the amplifier, the wiring has been completely updated to match the higher characteristics of the device. In particular, an additional power source was installed to improve the isolation between sensitive input and powerful output stages, linear stages and phono stage circuits. In addition, the linear circuits and phono stage circuitry use advanced operational amplifiers. Amplifier Rega Brio has a built-in high-end MM phono stage and headphone amplifier. The built-in headphone amplifier is designed to prevent interference in the sound circuit when not in use.

Connectivity

The amplifier is equipped with an input for a vinyl player, four line inputs and an output to the recorder. The built-in RIAA corrector is designed to work with MM type heads; for MC heads, an external matching transformer is needed. Acoustic terminals are universal; they accept bananas, spatulas and bare wire.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High antiresonance characteristics of the cases
  • The ability to connect a vinyl player
  • The presence of a USB-DAC for high-quality playback of files from external drives

Cons

  • No digital inputs
