Yamaha RX-S602 Review and Specs

In May, 2018, Yamaha announced the Aventage RX-A 80 series of AV receivers supporting proprietary MusicCast Surround technology. Features

The device is crammed with the latest technology. The MusicCast Surround system allows you to build wireless home theaters based on the appropriate speakers and subwoofers (the switching circuit is 5.1, the output power reaches 125 watts per channel at 8 ohms). The receiver is compatible with Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant. The Yamaha RX-S602 Slim black AV receiver supports a large number of audio formats, including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio. 192 kHz FLAC / WAV playback is also supported. The unit provides excellent sound quality from Blu-ray discs and other high-resolution sources.

Design and build

The height of the case is only 111 mm and the depth is 327 mm. The receiver fits perfectly in compact racks for AV equipment. This allows you to place the system where it is convenient for you, and at the same time it will look elegant and neat. The USB port on the front of the Yamaha RX-S602 is used to conveniently connect iPod / iPhone / iPad devices, which at the same time are recharged during operation.

Connectivity

The 4 HDMI inputs is sufficient for my needs and simplifies the remote as well. There are built-in streaming clients Spotify, Pandora, Deezer, Napster, Tidal and SiriusXM. Wireless inclusion is possible via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay.

Setup

In just a few minutes, the YPAO system analyzes the acoustics of the room and adjusts the parameters to achieve the best sound quality. The result will be as if a professional installer had calibrated your system. The AV receiver has a number of network functions that expand the control capabilities. You can connect the receiver to a computer to listen to Internet radio broadcasts, as well as control the system from a computer using the web interface. The AV Controller application (available through the iTunes App Store or Google Play) allows you to control various functions of the system from your iPod, iPhone, iPad, or from your Android phone / tablet.
