Features

The stereo enables use with two channels exclusively at 80W/Ch and 110W/Ch respectively. The unit promises to play from any audio sources using 80 watts per channel (8 ohms). The main feature of this receiver is a very high-quality sound thanks to the ability to play all known audio formats and Wide Range Amplification Technology system. In addition, one of the best features is free Onkyo Remote app to play music via your smartphone and tablet. I liked the ability to individually set input source sound levels so changing sources does not change the volume level.

Design and build

This box-shaped device measures about 22.5 x 16.5 x 10.3 inches heavily covered with black plastic exteriors for aesthetic look upon use. It’s a bit bulky and heavy weighing 18.5 pounds consecutively. Consequently, it doesn’t have any handles to allow portability upon use. Thus, an addition of this feature would be great and intuitive. Other than that, it includes two bases at its bottom interface to create balance and stability as needed. The front interface features the polished gray knob controls from volume, tuning, and bass or treble. It includes a large rectangular display that shows the tuned frequency and other details regarding it.

Connectivity

There are no problems connecting to my wireless network. It includes a phono equalizer input for turntable playing for those vintage and oldies music fans out there. The device is compatible to various audio formats like MP3, WMA, WMA lossless, FLAC, WAV, ogg Vorbis, and AAC.

Setup

Utilization of this stereo device is quite easy. Everything seems to be direct and straightforward. But nonetheless, there are users who still find it complicated with the incorporation of a lot of features with this device.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Different types of connectors for connecting to other devices
  • Upscale Integrated DAC

Cons

  • Gets too hot easily
  • The display could use some more thoughtful design and it could be great to change cheap plastic details on the device
