The 5.2-channel Marantz NR1508 is one of the younger AV receivers in the popular slim series. Due to the small height of the case, such devices do not take up much space and are perfectly combined with modern TVs. See more facts in this Marantz NR1508 review.
The AV receiver is equipped with a 32-bit DSP processor that provides support for HD decoders such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Five discrete amplifiers equipped with high-current transistors even work with four-ohm speakers and produce 50 watts of power at 8 ohms. Concerning Marantz NR1508 specs the general package also includes Dynamic EQ technology (for listening at low volume without loss of bass) and Dynamic Volume (optimizes the volume level in real time).
Eight years later, Marantz still retains the original features of the NR series with only a few minor changes. The NR1508 has an aluminum front panel with rounded edges and a pair of control knobs: one for volume and one for source selection. Its height is only 10 cm, compared to the more familiar 15 cm from Sony, but at the same time it was possible to install a large LED display on it. Despite its small height, its width is still 44 cm, and its depth is almost 38 cm.
The AV receiver is ready for wireless audio transmission, as it has Wi-Fi (two bands), Bluetooth and AirPlay on board. Through the LAN port or via WLAN, the model is easily connected to the local network and can pick up audio content stored on NAS servers or local folders on the computer. The device received six HDMI inputs (one located on the front), which support Ultra HD resolution (60 Hz), HDCP 2.2 protocol, as well as HDR10 and Dolby Vision standards.
After the software update, the HLG format developed for HDR broadcasts will be available. The CEC function for HDMI is available, making it possible to control the Marantz NR1508 using a TV remote equipped with Smart TV technology. You can control the receiver not only through a standard remote control, but also using a proprietary application. An efficient Audyssey MultEQ system is provided for speaker calibration.
