Developing a worthy replacement for the stunning AVR-X2200W has definitely been a challenge. This award-winning receiver was evidence of the return of its former form to a company that at some point was unable to maintain its own high standards. You can see all the Denon AVR-X2300W specs in our Denon AVR-X2300W review.
It is capable of decoding all existing Dolby and DTS sound formats, including Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 encoded. The power of the receiver has not changed - 150 watts into seven channels. The figure is impressive, but it should be noted that, like all other major manufacturers of audio and video equipment, Denon gives indicators measured under rather “preferential” conditions: 6 Ohm load, 1 kHz, 1% non-linear distortion coefficient, one sound amplification channel.
At first glance, it seems that the old and new models are practically no different from each other. Outwardly, they are almost identical: the same thoughtful arrangement of buttons and a clear display. The connectors on the rear of the X2300 are rearranged a bit; The company strives to make its AV-receivers as simple and convenient as possible.
Denon does not save on connections: there are eight HDMI connectors, they all support 4K pass-through at 60 Hz and are HDCP 2.2 certified. A decent range of optical digital and analog stereo inputs is complemented by older analog video inputs - composite and component. There is no digital coaxial connector.
The setup is quite simple: Denon has made a lot of efforts in recent years to make its AV receivers as simple and convenient to use as possible without sacrificing their functionality. Compared to its predecessor, some little things have changed, but in general, everything remains as before. And that means - everything is very convenient. The menus are simple and thoughtful, the Audyssey built-in auto-tuning system is accurate and clear. The kit includes not only a microphone for auto-tuning, but even a custom cardboard stand for it. It is assembled in three parts and holds the microphone at the desired height.
