Features

Talking about Sony SACS9 specs we can see that this subwoofer is equipped with a built-in amplifier that provides up to 115 watts of output power. Frequency response range is 28-200 Hz. There are a lot of reviews about this subwoofer where the owners describe how strong, powerful and deep the bass is. You know, I honestly didn’t feel this. Yes, there is bass, and if you unscrew everything to the full or even half and turn it up, then it will even be abundant, but you don’t know the sharpness and depth. There is no such thing that it captures the spirit and is felt by the body. Well, it would probably be a mistake to demand this from SA-CS9 since let's not forget how much it costs and in which segment it is.

Design and build

A conical diffuser with a diameter of 250 mm is capable of passing large flows of air through itself, creating conditions for low-frequency resonance, so that the bass sounds rich and realistic. The vibration-sensitive electrical circuit is removed from the enclosure, which allows for high sound pressure inside the acoustic enclosure and provides powerful and clear bass sound. The rugged construction of the enclosed subwoofer provides clear and natural sound. The bass reflex tubes suppress unwanted noise and interference and increase the sound quality in the low frequency range, so you can appreciate the powerful bass when watching a movie or listening to music.

Connectivity

There are two ways to connect a Sony SA-CS9 subwoofer: to the LINE IN jack - 1xRCA - 1xRCA Interconnect Subwoofer Cable or to SPEAKER IN sockets - a usual two-wire multicore speaker cable.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • These speakers are well-made, solid, and have an incredibly warm and accurate sound
  • It has a crossover with a decent range from 45-200 Hz. In theory, it'd be perfect. However, at 200 Hz it just becomes a large speaker

Cons

  • The enclosure is far too narrow to play tight, nice bass frequencies, especially music
  • You hear pretty much all the sound but very muffled. The volume control was almost useless
