The new ELAC Debut S10EQ subwoofer model has excellent bass control and excellent room integration capabilities. See what else can this sub offer you in the Elac S10EQ review.
Talking about Elac S10EQ specs, the continuous power handling is 200W, peak is 400W. The frequency response range is 28 – 150 Hz. The model is equipped with proprietary technology ELAC DSP, which allows you to automatically adjust the sound depending on the room. Unlike other automatic calibration systems, the ELAC system uses the capabilities of mobile devices. Traditional analog controls have been replaced with wireless controls using the ELAC SUB Control App via Bluetooth 4.0 LE. This subwoofer model supports automatic equalization for any room. The 12-band parametric equalizer, tuned through the microphone in the smartphone, helps. Simply position your smartphone near the subwoofer and the ELAC SUB Control App will calibrate the microphone in your smartphone using twelve test tones. After that, move the smartphone to the listening position and the subwoofer will be configured in the best way.
While most powered home theater subwoofers have a ported design, the S10EQ interestingly uses a passive bottom radiator in conjunction with a front firing driver. The advantage with this design is that, with a lot of power driven in, even a highly compact 10 inch subwoofer like the S10EQ can get very loud, and evenly so across the entire response range. It will pair adequately with all but very high end main speakers. The cabinet is a vinyl finish MDF with sheen grill bezel that matches the stands, and it looks quite nice, for those who care about that.
There are no rear physical controls – instead you use a mobile app for adjusting the crossover and other such things, which can pair via Bluetooth.
