Features

There is a massive 12 ’’ woofer that is driven by a high-end amplifier with a rated output of 600 watts. In this combination, a speaker / amplifier system produces a peak sound pressure of 131 dB and operates in the frequency range 47-160 Hz. Among the Yamaha DXS12 specs, it is worth highlighting the DSP processor, which processes the audio signal and controls the intellectual protection system, as well as the latest sound processing technologies, among which the FIR-X tuning technology is based on a linear phase filter, and the woofer low-frequency dynamic control technology, D -XSUB, which allows the speaker to work in several modes BOOST or XTENDED LF. It is also worth highlighting the function of the dynamic compressor D-CONTOUR (Dynamic CONTOUR), which allows you to control the input signal level in each frequency range and the LINK function - mixing sound with direct feed of three channel signals to the devices.

Design and build

The subwoofer housing DXS12 has a bass reflex type and is made of wood, which gives the whole system excellent acoustic characteristics while maintaining resistance to mechanical damage and scratches. The front panel of the casing is closed with a reinforced perforated grille, which protects the low-frequency speakers from possible mechanical damage. The side panels are equipped with molded handles for transportation, on top there is a 35 mm glass for the telescopic rod of the top, and on the bottom there are special rubber legs to increase stability. In addition, Yamaha engineers have developed a very robust multilayer wood enclosure that, in combination with the band-pass configuration, performs significantly better than the traditional bass-reflex design and minimizes distortion to achieve higher SPD.
