Specs and features

This device has 50W/channel at 8 Ohms. The a15.3 is the perfect choice if you're looking to assemble your first high-end audio system. Partner it with the matching Music Hall c-dac15.3 DAC/CD player and a Music Hall turntables for a great sounding system that's also easy on your billfold. Connecting a turntable couldn’t be easier with the built-in moving magnet phono preamp. The Music Hall has been designed for superb audio performance, with its high current amplification stage, ultra low noise preamplifier section, powerful high-current toroidal power transformer, and solid chassis with special padded vibration damping feet.

Design and build

The amp is designed to work with a wide variety of signal sources and can be an excellent basis for a modern stereo system. The device is made in a metal case with a thick aluminum panel, in the center of which is a large volume control knob. A slightly smaller input selector is equipped with a convenient light indication of the selected source. Also, it is equipped with tone controls for low and high frequencies and stereo balance, as well as a button for direct signal bypassing auxiliary circuits. The amplifier uses high-current output field-effect transistors. Proprietary dynamic power technology and AHC transistors used in the circuit provide significant output current and stable operation of the amplifier even with complex loads.

Connectivity

Speaking of connections, the a15.3 has an entire system's worth. It features five gold-plated analog stereo inputs, one moving-magnet phono input, one preamp out, one 3.5mm headphone output, and one 3.5mm front panel line input that's handy for plugging in your portable device.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • I loved the simplicity of the unit - no bass/treble knobs, no LCD screen, no function buttons, just one volume knob and a button for each input
  • Crazy easy to set up - just plug in your speaker wires and inputs and you're hearing music

Cons

  • The volume knob is heavy and moves slowly
  • The symbols on the remote are way too small to read in dim light, you will eventually have their positions memorized
